Adult Asperger’s support group relaunch

By Bernie | May 8, 2008

Three years ago, Dotty and I started a support group for adults and older teens on the autism spectrum. The group’s purpose was primarily social. We went out for mini golf, played pool, bowled, and sometimes just stayed at the PAS building playing board games. While we did these activities we talked about what was going on in our lives. Our group was a low key, supportive environment for those of us who have difficulty making social connections.

After about two years, interest in the group faded and we stopped meeting. However, a few past members have recently expressed interest in meeting again. And I’ve had contact with others who would also like to join.

So I am planning to relaunch the group in the near future. I just need is to find enough interested people, and to choose a date and time convenient for most of us. In the past, we met twice monthly on weekday afternoons.

If you’re interested in joining the group, contact Bernie at 755-7252 or email berniewoller@gmail.com.
